Colombia enters a stage of "intelligent preventive isolation" this Monday, as part of the more flexible measures it is beginning to adopt to deal with the coronavirus (causing the covid-19 disease)

"With the exceptions, we should all be at home; we will have a little more freedom but I want to emphasize, this is the month where we must all assume that great commitment to gradually recover that productive life that is determined with the local authorities" President Iván Duque said last week in a televised statement.

The new guidelines adopted offer the possibility of going to the streets to those over 70 years of age and to people who have severe pre-existing conditions and comorbidities, but under certain hours, which they did not count on since the mandatory isolation was implemented throughout the country, the last March 25.

"Over 70 years and people with underlying diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer, HIV, COPD, obesity and autoimmune will be able to do outdoor activities, three times a week, 30 minutes a day," he said, meanwhile, the Health Minister, Fernando Ruiz, who also participated in the televised address.

According to Ruiz, "children under 5 years of age will also be able to do outdoor activities, three times a week, for 30 minutes a day, on June 1, under the care of their family.

Meanwhile, children and adolescents between 6 and 17 years old will be able to do outdoor activities three times a week for one hour a day, after they only had half an hour per day.

The objective, said Ruiz, is that they adapt to enter classes again from August, since meanwhile the virtual classes are maintained.

The new guidelines announced on Wednesday, from June 1 to 30, also contemplate that kindergartens and universities continue to operate remotely, while bars and restaurants will continue to be domiciled.

Likewise, Duque indicated that the borders will remain closed and that there will be no transportation between the municipalities, nor air, and the use of face masks will remain mandatory in public spaces, as well as the rules for physical distance and hand washing.

The new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus already leaves almost 30,000 infected in the country and almost 1,000 deaths, according to figures revealed this Wednesday by the Ministry of Health.
